Our Story
vario-optics was founded in 2009 and pioneered the development of planar optical waveguides, laying the groundwork for today’s optical PCB technology. Since then, the company has accumulated over two decades of experience and intellectual property (IP), advanced and expanded its in-house production and cleanroom facilities, and built a growing team of experts. Its strong ties to academic institutions and industry partners position vario-optics as a key player in the photonics ecosystem. Through continuous research and development (R&D), strong technology partnerships, and a focus on industrial maturity, vario-optics relentlessly advances the integration of light and electronics. Driven by the ambition to enable the next generation of high-performance computing and AI infrastructure, vario-optics continues to build on this foundation.
Mission
We embed optical waveguides directly into printed circuit boards to overcome the limits of copper. Our mission is to deliver scalable, low-loss, and energy-efficient interconnects that are manufacturable at scale and compatible with industry-standard assembly. By combining photonics with proven PCB processes, we enable high-performance connectivity.
